So this has been a long time coming. I was approached by an independent filmmaker to create a title sequence for the upcoming independent motion picture, “The Sacred.” I was given free reign so long as the outcome was nasty and thoroughly creepy. The forest is a prominent theme in the movie (it’s almost a character unto itself) so I show the more repulsive elements of a forest, i.e. insects and an eerie atmosphere. Blood is also a motif in the movie, so it gushes in buckets in the sequence; the names themselves drip and flow onto the screen. Shot on location in Orlando, edited in Final Cut, and composited/color-corrected in After Effects. I won’t lie, I took more than a few cues from the “Dexter” and “True Blood” credits.
