So this has been a long time coming. I was approached by an independent filmmaker to create a title sequence for the upcoming independent motion picture, “The Sacred.” I was given free reign so long as the outcome was nasty and thoroughly creepy. The forest is a prominent theme in the movie (it’s almost a character unto itself) so I show the more repulsive elements of a forest, i.e. insects and an eerie atmosphere. Blood is also a motif in the movie, so it gushes in buckets in the sequence; the names themselves drip and flow onto the screen. Shot on location in Orlando, edited in Final Cut, and composited/color-corrected in After Effects. I won’t lie, I took more than a few cues from the “Dexter” and “True Blood” credits.

A few friends and I wanted to collaborate together before graduation from Full Sail University in Orlando and we came up with this. It’s an abstract piece in which we wanted to super impose technology and futuristic HUD elements onto natural ones for a nice contrast, and we wanted to impart the idea of nature vs. nurture. But we also just wanted to make a killer credits sequence together before we parted ways (for the time being anyway). We chose the name Not a Number since we had toyed around with the nvn idea and for asserting one’s individuality, but also for its floating-point implications (being the After Effects users that we are).

Finished spot for Community Marriage Builders. It came out pretty close to the original concept. I know, I’m just as surprised. I’ve been having this itch to try out a sketchy/Okami (which I love) style and this is the final outcome. I also wanted to work on my transitions and they were much less difficult and much more fun than I had originally anticipated. I decided that the strokes,the hands, and the pattern would be the consistent anchors in the piece and I worked around that. An almost even blend of 2d/3d animation. Thanks again to Wes.

A 10-second bumper for a rebrand of MTV. I had creative freedom on this piece and chose to go abstract and stellar. The new logo’s sharp edges are meant to launch MTV into the 21st century while the diagonal cuts retain its retro flavor. The outerspace aura gives the piece a sense of scale and the abstract connecting constellations symbolize reaching out to new audiences.

One of the very last pieces I made at Full Sail University (it’s almost poetic). I was tasked with rebranding a shaving cream made out of milk. The concept was to remain very surreal (hence the hair), overtly sexual and playful. A “pop” piece, in which eye candy entices a viewer and the product isn’t revealed until the very end. The animation is slight, though lavish and the color palette muted with soft tones meant to give a sense of sensuality.

A redux of one of my first mograph projects: an envisioned rebrand for MTV 2; heavily influenced by Tron, Wipeout, and Start Trek. The two styles coming together is meant to symbolize the joining of old school MTV music videos with the new school of TV shows.
